About Hixus, Prison Warden

Hixus, Prison Warden, Legendary creature — human soldier, designed by Magali Villeneuve first released in Jun, 2002 in the set Magic Online Promos and was printed exactly in 4 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of C$ 0.69.

A control deck focused on protecting itself and disrupting the opponent's board would benefit from using Hixus, Prison Warden, as it offers a strong defensive option against aggressive strategies. However, there are better options such as Banisher Priest or Fiend Hunter, which provide similar effects at a lower mana cost and with more flexibility. Hixus may see play in certain metagames where its specific ability is highly relevant, but overall, it is not considered a top-tier card in competitive Magic: The Gathering.

Rules

06/22/15

Auras attached to the exiled creatures will be put into their owners’ graveyards. Equipment attached to the exiled creatures will become unattached and remain on the battlefield. Any counters on the exiled creatures will cease to exist.

06/22/15

Hixus’s ability causes a zone change with a duration, a style of ability that’s somewhat reminiscent of older cards like Oblivion Ring. However, unlike Oblivion Ring, cards like Hixus have a single ability that creates two one-shot effects: one that exiles the creature when the ability resolves, and another that returns the exiled card to the battlefield immediately after Hixus leaves the battlefield.

06/22/15

The exiled cards return to the battlefield immediately after Hixus leaves the battlefield. Nothing happens between the two events, including state-based actions.
