About Imperiosaur

Imperiosaur, Creature — dinosaur, designed by Lars Grant-West first released in May, 2007 in the set Future Sight and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of C$ 0.48.

Imperiosaur would be beneficial in a mono-green deck that focuses on ramping up mana quickly with basic lands. While it has its limitations in terms of mana production, it can be a strong addition to a deck that can reliably generate the required mana. However, there are potentially better options available such as Primeval Titan, which offers more versatility and power for a similar mana cost, making Imperiosaur less likely to see play in competitive Magic: The Gathering decks.

Rules

03/19/21

An effect that allows you to spend mana as though it were mana of any type to cast Imperiosaur won’t allow you to spend mana from a source other than a basic land to cast it.

03/19/21

If a triggered mana ability produces mana when a basic land is tapped for mana, that additional mana is produced by the source of the triggered mana ability, not by that basic land.

05/01/07

A small number of effects (Pulse of Llanowar and Hall of Gemstone, for example) state that a land “produces” certain mana instead of what it would normally produce. If the land is basic, then mana produced this way can be spent to cast Imperiosaur.

05/01/07

Imperiosaur’s restriction applies to the total cost to cast it. If there are any additional costs (such as from Feroz’s Ban, for example), those costs would have to be paid with mana produced by basic lands as well.

05/01/07

Mana from any source other than a land with the supertype “basic” can’t be spent to cast Imperiosaur.
