**Proctor’s Gaze** (2GU) is best suited for a Simic (Green-Blue) tempo or midrange deck that values flexibility—especially ones that care about landfall, ramp synergies, or holding up instant-speed interaction. The bounce effect provides tempo by removing a blocker, disrupting an aura/equipment setup, or saving you from a problematic permanent, while the land search advances your mana and fixes colors, making it appealing in slower value-oriented shells like Simic Ramp, Landfall, or Commander decks that reward incremental advantage. However, in most competitive formats, there are more efficient options: **Growth Spiral** (GU) ramps at instant speed for less mana, **Into the Roil** or **Fading Hope** are cheaper bounce spells, and **Eureka Moment** ramps and draws a card at the same cost.
