The Goblin Sparring Grounds, Legendary land, designed by first released in May, 2026 in the set Unknown Event.
The Goblin Sparring Grounds would fit best in a Rakdos (black-red) Goblin tribal deck that wants to cast lots of Goblins early to build up experience counters and later convert that scaling resource into a potentially large, hard-to-remove commander threat from the command zone; it synergizes especially well with low-cost Goblin swarms, sacrifice themes, and cards that care about experience counters or creature size. However, compared to established Rakdos Goblin commanders like Krenko, Mob Boss, Grenzo, Dungeon Warden, or even Wort, Boggart Auntie, this land-commander is slower and less explosive, since it enters tapped, only produces colored mana conditionally for experience value, and requires significant setup before becoming a meaningful attacker. While being a land makes it resilient to sorcery-speed removal, it is vulnerable once animated and lacks built-in evasion or protection.
