This card could benefit a control deck that aims to draw cards and gain card advantage while having the flexibility to remove blood counters to mitigate the life loss. However, there are better options like Phyrexian Arena or Dark Confidant that provide card advantage without the life loss drawback, making Bloodletter Quill less appealing for competitive play unless in a specific themed deck focusing on life manipulation.
