About Salt Vampire

Salt Vampire fits best in black midrange, sacrifice/blink, Vampire-typal, and creature-toolbox decks that want disruption attached to a body: lifelink helps stabilize against aggro, the enters ability gives information and can temporarily break up an opponent’s curve or remove a key combo/control card, and being a creature means it can be copied, blinked, reanimated, sacrificed, or found with creature tutors. The drawback is that the opponent draws a replacement card, so this is not true card advantage; it is more like selective disruption plus tempo, and it is weakest against decks full of redundant threats. In most competitive formats, cleaner discard is usually better: `Thoughtseize` is much stronger if legal, `Inquisition of Kozilek` is better in low-curve formats, and `Duress` is often better from the sideboard against control/combo because they do not draw a replacement.
