Slithering Shade could be beneficial in a mono-black control deck that aims to stall the game and win through attrition. Its ability to pump itself and potentially attack when hellbent can be a surprise factor. However, there are better options like Nighthawk Scavenger or Vampire Nighthawk that provide more value and versatility in a similar mana cost range, making them more viable choices for competitive play.
