Sphinx’s Approach would mainly benefit a dedicated Sphinx-reanimator or blue graveyard-combo deck that can quickly stock the graveyard with four extra copies—using self-mill, looting, or discard—then cheat a powerful Sphinx onto the battlefield for only 1UU; its first effect is also respectable, since drawing two cards at instant speed is useful. However, playing enough copies to reliably activate it creates many narrow or dead draws, the five-card requirement is slow and vulnerable to graveyard hate, and the deck must still contain worthwhile Sphinx targets, so it is unlikely to see competitive play outside a casual Sphinx-tribal strategy. In most formats, `Dig Through Time` is a better blue draw spell because it digs seven cards and costs little with delve, while `Reanimate`, `Zombify`, `Through the Breach`, or `Quicksilver Amulet` are generally better ways to put a large creature onto the battlefield; Sphinx’s Approach is powerful when its unusual condition is met, but too inconsist
