Vex is particularly beneficial in control decks that aim to disrupt opponents' strategies while maintaining card advantage. By allowing the spell's controller to draw a card, it can mitigate the downside of countering a spell, making it a strategic choice in blue-heavy decks that focus on card draw and resource management. However, there are arguably better options available, such as Counterspell, which simply counters a spell without giving the opponent any card advantage, or Mana Drain, which not only counters a spell but also gives you mana equal to its cost on your next main phase. While Vex can be situationally useful, it may not see widespread play compared to these more efficient alternatives.
