Inspired Fire would fit best in a red-based spellslinger or Izzet (blue-red) draw-heavy deck that can reliably draw multiple cards in a single turn—such as decks built around cantrips, wheel effects, or burst draw engines—since it can often be cast for just {R} or even for free after a big draw turn, making it an efficient tempo play. However, even at its best, dealing only 4 damage to a creature at instant speed is underwhelming compared to existing options like **Lightning Bolt** (1 mana for 3 damage to any target), **Unholy Heat** (1 mana for 6 damage with delirium), **Flame Slash** (1 mana for 4 damage at sorcery speed), or **Play with Fire** and **Lightning Strike**, which offer greater flexibility or better rate without requiring setup; in larger formats, **Fury** or similar multi-damage effects also outclass it.
