This card would be beneficial in a red aggressive deck that focuses on landfall triggers and graveyard recursion. While Akoum Firebird's ability to return from the graveyard is powerful, there are potentially better options like Flamewake Phoenix that offer similar benefits with a lower mana cost and easier conditions to meet. However, Akoum Firebird could still see play in decks looking for additional flying threats with haste and recursive capabilities.

If, during its controller’s declare attackers step, Akoum Firebird is tapped or is affected by a spell or ability that says it can’t attack, then it doesn’t attack. If there’s a cost associated with having it attack, its controller isn’t forced to pay that cost. If they don’t, Akoum Firebird doesn’t have to attack.
