About Brilliant Spectrum

Brilliant Spectrum, Sorcery, designed by Winona Nelson first released in Oct, 2015 in the set Battle for Zendikar and was printed exactly in 2 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 1.36.

This card, Brilliant Spectrum, would benefit a multicolor deck that can reliably produce multiple colors of mana. Decks with a diverse mana base and a focus on card draw and selection would find this card useful. However, there are potentially better options such as Painful Truths or Dig Through Time which offer more immediate card advantage without the discard drawback. Whether Brilliant Spectrum sees play would depend on the specific deck strategy and meta, but it could be a viable option in certain multicolor decks looking for card advantage.

Rules

08/25/15

If a spell with a converge ability is copied, no mana was spent to cast the copy, so the number of colors of mana spent to cast the spell will be zero. The number of colors spent to cast the original spell is not copied.

08/25/15

If there are any alternative or additional costs to cast a spell with a converge ability, the mana spent to pay those costs will count. For example, if an effect makes sorcery spells cost more to cast, you could pay to cast Radiant Flames and deal 4 damage to each creature.

08/25/15

The maximum number of colors of mana you can spend to cast a spell is five. Colorless is not a color. Note that the cost of a spell with converge may limit how many colors of mana you can spend.
