While there are similar cards like Anointed Procession that do the same thing for white mana, Parallel Lives is still a strong choice and should definitely see play in token-focused decks for its powerful effect.

If you control two Parallel Lives, then the number of tokens created is four times the original number. If you control three, then the number of tokens created is eight times the original number, and so on.
