A deck focused on land manipulation or control, such as a blue control deck or a deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's mana base, would benefit from including Vedalken Plotter. While there may be more efficient or versatile land exchange cards available, such as Gilded Drake or Vedalken Mastermind, Vedalken Plotter can still be a useful tool in certain strategies, especially in a casual or themed deck where the land exchange theme is prominent. If either land becomes an illegal target (or leaves the battlefield) before the ability resolves, the exchange won’t happen. There’s no way for you to gain a land without losing another one in the process.
