About War Oracle

War Oracle, Creature — human cleric, designed by Steve Prescott first released in Jul, 2015 in the set Magic Origins. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 1.38.

This War Oracle card would be a great addition to a white weenie or aggressive lifegain deck in Magic: the Gathering, as it provides lifelink and can quickly become a threat with its renown ability. However, there are better cards for similar mana costs that offer more impactful abilities or synergies, such as Archangel of Thune or Serra Ascendant, which see more play in competitive decks due to their stronger effects. War Oracle could be a fun inclusion in casual or themed decks, but may struggle to find a place in more competitive environments.

If a renown ability triggers, but the creature leaves the battlefield before that ability resolves, the creature doesn’t become renowned. Any ability that triggers “whenever a creature becomes renowned” won’t trigger.

Renown won’t trigger when a creature deals combat damage to a planeswalker or another creature. It also won’t trigger when a creature deals noncombat damage to a player.
