About Countersculpt
Countersculpt, Instant, designed by Anna Podedworna first released in September 2026 in the set Reality Fracture. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of NZ$ 0.61.
Countersculpt would primarily benefit a blue control or Jace-themed planeswalker deck that can reliably control or reveal a Jace, since it functions as a `UU` counterspell while also creating a Jace planeswalker token and adding loyalty, potentially giving you an immediate Surveil 1 activation and future card draw; outside that strategy, paying `1UU` makes it noticeably worse. `Counterspell` is generally better because it always costs `UU` and has no deck-building requirement, while cards such as `Three Steps Ahead`, `Dovin’s Veto`, or `No More Lies` may be preferable depending on the format and whether flexibility or uncounterability matters. Countersculpt should see play only in dedicated Jace or planeswalker-control decks where the token and loyalty effects are consistently valuable; it is unlikely to become a staple counterspell in ordinary blue decks.

Empower Jace won't let you put loyalty counters on nontoken Jace planeswalkers. However, if you control a Jace planeswalker token that you got another way (such as an effect that creates a token that's a copy of a permanent), empower Jace will put loyalty counters on that.

If you control a Jace planeswalker token, you can't choose to create a new one when you empower Jace. You have to put the loyalty counters on your existing Jace planeswalker token. In the rare case that you control multiple Jace planeswalker tokens, you'll choose one of those tokens to put the loyalty counters on.

Some spells and abilities that empower Jace may require targets. If each target chosen is an illegal target as that spell or ability tries to resolve, it won't resolve. You won't empower Jace.

To empower Jace N, if you don't control a Jace planeswalker token, create a blue Jace planeswalker token with 0 loyalty, "[−1]: Surveil 1," and "[−3]: Draw a card." Choose a Jace planeswalker token you control. Put N loyalty counters on it.
