Folk Medicine, Instant, designed by Matt Cavotta first released in May, 2020 in the set Judgment. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of NZ$ 0.61.
Folk Medicine would be particularly beneficial in a green creature-heavy deck, especially those focused on token generation or swarm strategies, where the number of creatures can significantly boost life gain. Decks like Selesnya (green/white) that utilize cards like Elspeth, Sun's Champion or Tendershoot Dryad to create multiple creatures would maximize the card's effectiveness. While there are other cards that provide life gain, such as Soul Warden or Ajani's Pridemate, they often require different strategies or conditions. Folk Medicine's flashback ability also adds versatility, making it a solid choice for decks that can generate a lot of creatures quickly. However, whether it should see play depends on the overall synergy and life gain strategy of the deck; if life gain is a key component, it could be a valuable inclusion.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you’re paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The converted mana cost of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.

You can cast a spell using flashback even if it was somehow put into your graveyard without having been cast.

“Flashback [cost]” means “You may cast this card from your graveyard by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost” and “If the flashback cost was paid, exile this card instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack.”
