A deck that focuses on sacrificing small creatures or tokens would benefit from using Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker, as it allows for continuous recursion of those creatures. While Shirei can be a strong engine in the right deck, there are better options like Mikaeus, the Unhallowed that offer more versatility and power in similar strategies. However, for a more budget-friendly or specific theme deck, Shirei can still be a solid choice and could see play in a casual or themed setting.

If Shirei leaves the battlefield and returns to the battlefield after a creature with power 1 or less is put into your graveyard, Shirei is considered a new object. The delayed triggered ability won’t return the creature to the battlefield.

Shirei’s ability only triggers if the creature’s power immediately before leaving the battlefield is 1 or less, regardless of its power in your graveyard.
