About Shiv

Shiv, Plane — dominaria, designed by rk post first released in Sep, 2009 in the set Planechase Planes and was printed exactly in 2 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of NZ$ 1.47.

This card, Shiv is a Plane, would benefit a red aggressive deck that focuses on boosting the power of its creatures quickly to apply pressure on the opponent. While the ability to give all creatures +1/+0 can be useful for increasing damage output, the random generation of a 5/5 red Dragon token when chaos ensues adds an unpredictable but powerful element to the card. However, in a competitive Magic: The Gathering environment, there may be better cards that offer more consistent and reliable effects for a similar mana cost, such as Embercleave or Torbran, Thane of Red Fell, which could potentially be stronger choices for deck construction. Overall, Shiv is a Plane could see play in casual or themed decks for its unique and chaotic nature, but may not be a top-tier competitive choice.

Rules

10/01/09

A plane card is treated as if its text box included “When you roll , put this card on the bottom of its owner’s planar deck face down, then move the top card of your planar deck off that planar deck and turn it face up.” This is called the “planeswalking ability.”

10/01/09

The controller of a face-up plane card is the player designated as the “planar controller.” Normally, the planar controller is whoever the active player is. However, if the current planar controller would leave the game, instead the next player in turn order that wouldn’t leave the game becomes the planar controller, then the old planar controller leaves the game. The new planar controller retains that designation until they leave the game or a different player becomes the active player, whichever comes first.
