Abstract Performance is best suited for a slower blue control or combo deck that can reliably reach six mana and leverage both graveyard and card-advantage synergies, since even the “bad” pile fuels delve, flashback, reanimation, escape, or other graveyard mechanics while the chosen pile either grants a free spell or effectively draws several cards; it fits particularly well in decks that don’t mind opponents making imperfect information choices and that run high-impact spells worth cheating out. However, six mana is a lot for a conditional payoff, and cards like Dig Through Time, Treasure Cruise, Memory Deluge, or even Fact or Fiction generally provide more consistent value at a lower or comparable cost, while spells like Mind’s Desire or Invoke the Winds (in ramp shells) can generate stronger immediate impact.
