However, in a competitive setting, there may be more efficient cards with similar effects, such as Solemn Simulacrum or Wurmcoil Engine, which offer more immediate impact or value. Chimeric Egg could still see play in a casual or themed deck for its unique and flavorful design.

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.
