About Command the Stage
Command the Stage, Sorcery, designed by Jarel Threat first released in September 2026 in the set Reality Fracture.
Command the Stage fits an Izzet, Jeskai, or Grixis Wizard-token spellslinger deck that can repeatedly deal noncombat damage to opponents on each turn cycle, using burn, pingers, or effects such as `Impact Tremors` to recur it and gradually grow an established board of Wizard tokens; it is at its best when you already control several tokens, because the new Cadet does not receive its own counter. In most constructed environments, however, `Third Path Iconoclast` is substantially better as a low-cost, repeatable token engine for noncreature-spell decks, while `Young Pyromancer` fills a similar role efficiently, and `Balmor, Battlemage Captain` is often a stronger Wizard payoff by giving the entire team a decisive spell-triggered attack boost. Command the Stage is playable as a casual, theme-heavy inclusion where the graveyard recursion is reliably enabled, but its three-mana floor of a single vanilla 2/2 and its need for an existing Wizard-token board make it unlikely to see competitive
