About Evasive Maneuvers
Evasive Maneuvers, Instant, designed by Evan Shipard first released in Aug, 2026 in the set Star Trek Commander.
Evasive Maneuvers fits a white-based limited deck, especially one built around creatures that want to block or survive combat, since it can turn a trade into a favorable exchange while replacing itself with a card; however, its restriction to a blocking creature makes it much narrower than typical combat tricks, so it is generally not strong enough for Constructed play. In Limited it can be a reasonable filler or sideboard card against aggressive creature decks, but cards such as `Shelter` (protects a creature from a color and draws a card), `Defiant Strike` (gives +1/+0 to any creature and draws a card), or more broadly useful removal/protection spells are usually better because they can be used proactively or reactively without requiring your creature to block. Play Evasive Maneuvers only when your Limited deck needs another combat-oriented card and expects to block often; otherwise, leave it out.
