Unhallowed Cathar could be useful in aggressive decks that focus on attacking rather than blocking, such as a Zombie tribal deck or a deck that aims to win quickly through aggressive creature strategies. However, there are likely better options available, such as creatures with more impactful abilities or higher power/toughness ratios for the same mana cost. Whether Unhallowed Cathar should see play ultimately depends on the specific strategy and synergies of the deck it's being considered for.

If you gain control of a Loyal Cathar owned by another player and it dies, it will be put into to its owner’s graveyard and then return to the battlefield under your control.

When Loyal Cathar dies, it will return to the battlefield with its back face (Unhallowed Cathar) up. It doesn’t return to the battlefield and then transform.
