About Retro-Mutation

Retro-Mutation, Enchantment — aura, designed by Leonardo Santanna first released in Feb, 2026 in the set Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It see play in 1 formats: Commander.

**Retro-Mutation** is best suited for a blue tempo or control deck that wants cheap, instant-speed removal to neutralize a threatening creature while keeping mana open for counterspells; it’s especially useful against Voltron commanders, indestructible threats, or creatures with powerful static or activated abilities, since it strips abilities and shrinks the creature to an irrelevant 0/1 body. However, it’s generally outclassed by similar effects like **Pongify** and **Rapid Hybridization** (which fully destroy the creature for one mana), **Resculpt** (which exiles), or even **Witness Protection** and **Kenrith’s Transformation**, which can be more efficient or replace themselves; in Commander, **Imprisoned in the Moon** is often stronger because it hits any permanent and removes more functionality. While Retro-Mutation is playable in slower blue control shells that value flash and permanent ability suppression, it is usually a niche choice rather than an optimal staple due to stronge
