Hello my friends, I'm Betรฃo and today I'm going to escape a little from the traditional Pauper that we know to bring you a format that is not new, but lately it has caught the attention of both Commander and Pauper players. Pauper Commander, or PDH, as you please, is not a new format. Like the traditional Commander, which started more than a decade ago by the initiative of the players themselves and was called Elder Dragon Highlander. And since the world is a world, some people are bound by some financial limits, due to different factors, so not long after the appearance of Commander, some players started creating cheaper decks, until the idea of โ€‹โ€‹using only common caught the attention of some. It is not known exactly when this occurred, but some older players claim that they heard about this variant in the community in the mid-2000s.

Today, the international community is much more engaged in this format. There are many content creators and even tournaments with cash prizes. It has gathered new fans over the years, mainly in the last two. The format has been growing with the strength of the players in introducing it to an increasing number of players in stores, at friends' houses, among other meeting places to play our beloved Magic. Now that we know a little about the historical context, let's talk about how it works? PDH is a format that can be played as Duel or multiplayer. The decks must contain only one copy of each card, except basic lands, they are composed by the commander, who must be an uncommon creature (released as an uncommon in any IRL or on-line expansion),and the other 99 cards must be common. Importantly, only creatures can be used as a commander, excluding

that, despite being a creature, it cannot be cast. Each player starts the game with 30 life points. If a player takes 16 or more damage from a commander, he loses the game. The format does not yet have a specific banlist. That's right, you can play with Gush, High Tide, among others banned cards on Pauper, but it is necessary to say here that, in the same way that in most other formats, the Conspiracy and silver-bordered cards are banned. Here is an example of a decklist:

Crypt Rats were printed at uncommon in Seventh Edition and thus can be my Commander. This is an interactive and very fun format. In some cities and stores there are tournaments that are organized by the players themselves. Today I will stop here. This article is shorter, just to present an interesting format for you. Next time, I hope to bring some cool lists.
