Wizards of the Coast has updated the legality schedule for Mystery Booster Commander Editionlink outside website in all formats other than Commander. According to an announcement by Blake Rasmussen during this week's Weekly MTG stream, the set will not be legal in Legacy and Vintage until January 1, 2027. In Commander, however, it will remain legal starting November 13, its release date at MagicCon: Atlanta.

The decision was driven by card availability concerns. Mystery Booster Commander Edition will be released in batches throughout upcoming MagicCon events, and Wizards does not want players to struggle to obtain the cards in time for eternal-format tournaments. The Eternal Weekend event calendar includes stops in Japan (November 28 and 29) and Italy (December 3 to 6), which could have forced players to scramble for the new cards if the set had been legal immediately.

The Mystery Booster Commander Edition release schedule for MagicCon events includes: Atlanta (November 13 to 15), Detroit (February 26 to 28, 2027), Tokyo (May 14 to 16), Las Vegas (August 27 to 29) and Amsterdam (December 3 to 5). More dates are expected to be announced in the future.
