Wizards of the Coast revealed this Friday (17) the three sets set in Magic: The Gathering's Multiverse that will be released in 2027. The sets are Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, on February 5, Kamigawa: Titanbreach, on June 4, and Zhalfir, on October 1. The company also confirmed that next year will feature three Universes Beyond releases, alternating between the two types of products, as part of what it called the "Year of the Gathering."According to Wizards, 2027 marks the return to a balance between in‑universe Magic sets and Universes Beyond products following the transition period of 2026. The company stated that the calendar was structured to offer more opportunities for player gatherings and to expand the celebrations around releases. As part of this strategy, the event circuit will feature four MagicCon editions in 2027, including the first one held in Japan.The year's first set will be Nauctis: The Sunken Realm, a brand‑new plane inspired by an underwater world. The setting features an endless ocean, cities built beneath the waters, and deities that control the currents. Among the creatures present are Merfolk, seals, homarids, and humans. This is the first Magic set without the Flying keyword.The second release will be Kamigawa: Titanbreach, which merges two of Magic's most well‑known planes. The story begins when an Omenpath opens over the futuristic city of Towashi, allowing massive beasts from Ikoria to invade Kamigawa and spread destruction. To face the monsters, the inhabitants will turn to next‑generation mechs capable of taking on the giant creatures.Closing out the Multiverse calendar, Zhalfir will take players to the realm that returned to the Multiverse as an independent plane. The set marks Teferi Akosa's return to his homeland and promises to explore new forms of magic while paying homage to the setting's history. According to Wizards, the set will combine classic Magic elements with contemporary game design philosophy while also highlighting the visual identity inspired by Afrofantasy.The company stated that these three sets represent only part of the plans for Magic's universe in 2027. Wizards said it will release more details about each launch in the coming months and indicated that upcoming presentations will focus on Reality Fracture and the Echoverse, where familiar and alternative versions of franchise characters will take center stage.Source: DailyMTG
