Wizards of the Coast has announced four new MTG Arena features designed to bring players closer to brick-and-mortar stores affiliated with the Wizards Play Network (WPN). The features will go live on October 1, 2026, and include achievements for attending in-person events, a favorite stores screen, store messages and event carousels.

The new WPN achievements are unlocked by stepping away from the digital game and attending in-person events at local stores. Examples include "Paper Player I", which awards the "Went Outside" title to players who attend an event, and "Just Keeping Tabs", which grants 1,000 gold for favoriting a store. Other achievements include attending three in-person drafts, which rewards a draft token, and playing at a store with "Legendary Store" status, which grants a sleeve featuring Jodah, the Unifier. Progress is credited the next time the player opens the game, provided they used the same Wizards account at the event. The achievements are not retroactive, meaning events held before October 1 do not count.

The "Favorite Stores" screen lets players view updates and information from stores they have favorited, as well as adjust their notification settings. Players can favorite multiple stores, which appear with their addresses and, if applicable, a "Legendary Store" badge. The screen includes two opt-in options for store messages and event carousels, and each store can be muted individually using a bell icon.

The "WPN Store Messages" feature lets players receive messages in their MTG Arena inbox about events and promotions from their favorite stores. The inbox now has two tabs: one for messages from the MTG Arena team and another for messages from stores. Meanwhile, "WPN Event Carousels" display promotions and reminders for upcoming events, with up to one promoted event shown at a time. Both features are opt-in and do not display content from muted stores.

Wizards said it is excited to partner with WPN stores and reward players for playing Magic both remotely and in person. The company said it looks forward to player feedback as it develops future programs.
