Mono Red Aggro continues to evolve in Pauper. Since Kuldotha Rebirth's banning, the archetype has shifted between traditional Burn variants and Aggro with artifacts, adopted the combination of Burning-Tree Emissary with Rally at the Hornburg, and more recently appeared, in the hands of player seasonofmists, in a new variant with Dwarven Forge-Chanter and Inventor's Axe.The DecklistMaindeckThe core of Goblin Tomb Raider with Voldaren Epicure and Clockwork Percussionist has been a classic in the format since the Kuldotha Rebirth era. Together, they guarantee a 2/2 Tomb Raider on turn two while also amplifying the clock, commonly securing the first three or four points of damage in the match. The new addition in this list is Dwarven Forge-Chanter and Inventor's Axe.The equipment has occasionally appeared in Mono Red Rally lists, but adding Chanter seems to have given the card another role as a damage amplifier and artifact. The two-drop with Prowess easily becomes a four-power creature for one mana with it, grows above that with another spell, and deals a Shock to the opponent if it takes a removal or bounce spell — as we learned with Hexing Squelcher in Standard, that extra damage makes a difference.Experimental Synthesizer ties everything together. It is an artifact for Tomb Raider, generates an extra "draw" to dig for resources, triggers Prowess, and we can sacrifice it to create a 2/2 on board.Wrenn's Resolve and Reckless Impulse provide more staying power in longer games. A portion of them often get sideboarded out because they are tools for grind and redundancy, and our best route in many matches involves avoiding letting the game go too long, or revealing a Pyroblast and not being able to cast it.Lightning Bolt and Galvanic Blast are the best Burn spells in the format today, while Chain Lightning adds three damage in matches against non-red decks.Tectonic Hazard is a flex slot. If your Metagame has many X/1 creatures and Sneaky Snacker decks, you can include more copies in place of Chain Lightning.Great Furnace turns Goblin Tomb Raider into a 2/2 from turn one. It is the best opening we can have, and it also enables Metalcraft for Galvanic Blast.SideboardRelic of Progenitus adds to the artifact count while being our main graveyard hate source. Ideal against Spy Combo, Tolarian Terror, and in Mono Red's case, it is an easy sideboard choice against Sneaky Snacker, since we do not want to deal with infinite blockers.Pyroblast answers some of the format's most popular decks, including Mono Blue Terror, Faeries, Jeskai Ephemerate, and Azorius Caw-Gates. Depending on the version, it can come in against Tron, but the best way to handle it today is to race.Shenanigans breaks Myr Enforcers and other recurring blockers from Affinity, as well as answering Bonder's Ornament and other common setup artifacts and/or repetitive life-gain sources like Campfire.Tectonic Hazard answers X/1 creatures and excess blockers. Ideal against Elves, Mono Red Rally, and it can come in against White Weenie to answer Battle Screech, but the deck has moved away from relying on small creatures.Flash of Defiance also comes in against White Weenie and Elves to prevent blocks and push through lethal damage. It also works situationally against Spy Combo, but it is a side-in that can save the game.Sideboard GuideMono Blue TerrorINOUTMono Red MadnessINOUTGrixis AffinityINOUTMono White AggroINOUTSpy ComboINOUTElvesINOUTFaeriesINOUTWrapping UpThat's all for today! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment! Thanks for reading!
