Marvel Super Heroes is the most recent Magic: The Gathering expansion, bringing with it over a hundred iconic characters from the world's most famous comic book series and a dozen of their memorable moments.
Despite being the main Universes Beyond set of 2026, the collection may have left something to be desired for the constructed format community, at least in theory. Most cards seem self-contained for the Limited environment, with few standout staples.
In Pioneer, the main highlight will be Super-Soldier Serum, which offers Hammer Time the most consistent way to cheat on Colossus Hammer's cost since Sigarda's Aid. But cards like Jennifer Walters, Avengers Disassembled, and even Tigra, Feline Fury also have potential in the format and are worth building new lists around.
Below, we present five decklists with some of the best cards from Marvel Super Heroes for Pioneer.
Pioneer Decklists with Marvel Super Heroes
Mono White Hammer Time
Super-Soldier Serum has given Hammer Time the ability to attach multiple equipment already on the battlefield to any single creature, letting us drop red and go for an all-in Combo list with Ornithopter, cheap legends with Mox Amber to ramp mana, and Leyline Axe.
This list can win the game on turn two if we open with Leyline Axe in the opening hand, play Ornithopter and Colossus Hammer on turn one, and follow up with Super-Soldier Serum on the following turn, attacking for 26 damage with Flying and Trample. If this plan does not work, Zack Fair and Skrelv, Defector Mite help protect Kemba, Kha Enduring the turn before so that, with a Colossus Hammer attached, we can pay mana to equip Leyline Axe and attack for lethal.
Boros Hammer Time
If we prefer a less explosive but more consistent version that always has a creature attacking with Hammer, the Boros variant runs Raubahn, Bull of Ala Mhigo, and the deck gained Jennifer Walters as a Voice of Victory that also enables Mox Amber. The addition of red also opens up room for Mjölnir, Hammer of Thor, which works as a pseudo-Double Strike that can also remove a threat from the board or clear the battlefield of small blockers.
Boros Ponza
Ponza gained a significant consistency boost with Avengers Disassembled, which besides clearing the battlefield — and the deck's main weakness has always been go-wide Aggro — also interacts with the LD plan and the goal of draining the opponent's basic lands. Fin Fang Foom is the first card to motivate the use of LD and mana disruption in many years, and in a list with 16 spells that target lands, copying them for free can offer a significant advantage.
Selesnya Lifegain
Selesnya Lifegain has appeared a few times in Leagues and Challenges, also running Mox Amber and a wide base of legendary creatures, but the deck has severe issues getting past blockers. Tigra, Feline Fury addresses this problem with a body that grows whenever we gain life and has Trample.
With Practiced Offense granting Double Strike and increasing all creatures' power, we gain a potential one-turn kill with Tigra, complementing the go wide lines rewarded by Elspeth, Storm Slayer with a go big plan.
Golgari Cube Control
Construct a Cosmic Cube is one of the most enjoyable cards to build around from the new set, but it requires a more Control-oriented posture rather than a traditional Midrange approach. Fortunately, the Unholy Annex and Professor Dellian Fel core already provides the necessary extra draws, while both are efficient on their own in the current Metagame.
