Marvel Super Heroes will be one of the most peculiar sets to test in competitive formats following its release on June 23. The set's design, combined with the large number of legendary creatures, places it in a unique space where some archetypes have potential but will be constrained, and some cards may surprise but need to be built around.

Below, we present five Standard lists with the new set, based on some of the set's highlights!

Five Standard Decklists with Marvel Super Heroes

Heroes!

A deck built around Heroes has support in Marvel Super Heroes, but with one problem: most creatures in the set are legendary, and running a full set of all of them could hinder a more aggressive plan.

Most creatures of this type are in white, such as Captain America, Super-Soldier and Jennifer Walters. The color offers Origin of Spider-Man and Skyward Spider as non-legendary heroes, and a mono‑colored list opens up room for more utility lands.

Unlike what I mentioned in my Standard reviewlink outside website, I do not believe Heroes is a viable deck due to the design issue of having too many legendary creatures in the same list.

Golgari Roots

Shang-Chi, Master of Kung Fu brings Insidious Roots and the combo between the enchantment, Agatha's Soul Cauldron, and Molt Tender back to the menu. With Molt Tender exiled with Agatha's Soul Cauldron and Shang-Chi and Insidious Roots on board, the Plant token will enter with a +1/+1 counter and can exile a card from the graveyard on the same turn to generate mana, creating another token and repeating the loop as long as we have creatures in the graveyard.

With Dredger's Insight on board, we gain life each time we repeat the process, and Formidable Speaker helps put the creatures we need into the graveyard and find Shang-Chi to ensure the loop.

Golgari Cube Control

Construct a Cosmic Cube and Doctor Doom have one of the best synergies in the new set. Cube protects Doom from removal, and Doom feeds the condition to create tokens and eventually take control of the opponent's turn.

Our list is a Golgari Midrange variant seeking to capitalize on Construct a Cosmic Cube while controlling the board with spot removal and sweepers. Professor Dellian Fel and Unholy Annex are efficient cards on their own that synergize with the enchantment. Beyond the token created by Annex, Firdoch Core and Soulstone Sanctuary feed the condition to drain life from the opponent with Annex.

Namor Blue Prowess

Namor the Sub-Mariner turns any cheap blue spell into board power, and the Prowess core with Boomerang Basics and Stormchaser's Talent has effects that create two or more tokens per turn and increase his power as a win condition. Cards with multiple blue pips, such as Get Out, are also welcome, but this is the only one in the current Metagame that deserves maindeck slots.

Selesnya Aggro

Looking at the more established archetypes, Selesnya Aggro was one of the biggest beneficiaries. The extra mana from the combination of Badgermole Cub and mana dorks makes Jennifer Walters and her transformed side, She-Hulk, an improved version of Voice of Victory and more worthy of maindeck slots, with a decent body for the mid‑to‑late game and an ability that, besides punishing instant‑speed interaction, punishes large creatures attacking or blocking, giving a similar effect to the damage from Screaming Nemesis.

Captain Marvel, Earth's Protector is a relevant addition, especially against Aggro decks or in combination with Jennifer Walters if we have enough mana to pay for the Power Up on the same turn to grant Indestructible, making it harder for most removal spells to deal with her while we have a 6/5 with Flying and Lifelink.
