Introductions
Another Universes Beyond set has come out, and, with it, more cards for equipment decks (or the iconic Voltron lists).
Now that we know every card in Final Fantasy, we know every creature and equipment, as well as every spell that interacts with them and every card generically good for different decks.
In this article, we'll show you the best cards printed in the Commander decks (FIC) and the standard set (FIN). Please note that FIN cards are also Standard-legal.
Without further ado, let's start going through the creatures that made our mouths water and our eyes widen!
Creatures for Equipment Decks
Cloud, Midgar Mercenary
Yes, we'll start with the mercenary who most stood out to players in the last few weeks.

For just two mana , Cloud, Midgar Mercenary is an equipment tutor. When he is equipped, his triggered abilities and abilities of equipment attached to him trigger an extra time.
One equipment cycle that benefits from this ability is the Sword cycle. If you'd like to see more about these particular cards, click here!

Imagine that Sword of Body and Mind is attached to Cloud and that he can always deal damage to the opponent. Whenever he deals damage to them, he'll put two 2/2 Wolf tokens in play, and your opponent will have to put a total of 20 cards from the top of their deck into the graveyard.
Cid, Freeflier Pilot
Discounting costs is always great... And, thankfully, we have Cid for that.

This card makes casting equipment and Vehicles cheaper by one generic mana. Furthermore, his activated ability returns these types of artifacts from your graveyard to your hand.
Recursion and discounts in the same card can't hurt.
Raubahn, Bull of Ala Mhigo
Some players say that, depending on the Ward, the creature might as well have hexproof. What can we say, then, about a creature whose Ward is equal to his power?

Besides his Ward, when he attacks, you may attach an equipment card to a target attacking creature you control.
Zack Fair

Zack is here to protect your creatures.
When you pay a mana and sacrifice him, a target creature you control becomes indestructible until the end of the turn and gets all of Zack's counters. Furthermore, you'll also attach one of the equipment cards attached to Zack to that creature.
Weapons Vendor
The common card that no one expected.

When Weapons Vendor enters play, he draws a card for you. However, the combat phase is where he shines the most.
At this moment, when you pay one mana, you may equip a creature under your control with a target equipment.
It will be interesting to go around any expensive equip costs.

Freya Crescent

A mana dork for equipments? Yes, right here!
You can use the mana Freya creates to cast equipment cards or activate any equip abilities on your equipment.
Giott, King of the Dwarves
Of course, this list had to have a Boros card.

Giott's ability triggers when it, other Dwarves, and equipment enter your board. With it in play, when these spells enter your board, you may discard a card and draw another.

Creatures from Commander Decks
Cloud, Ex-SOLDIER
Our Naya commander also made the list!
We've already upgraded his precon in another article. Click here if you'd like to see more about this list!

When Cloud enters, you may already attach an equipment card to him.
Then, when he attacks, you'll draw a card for each attacking equipped creature, and create two Treasure tokens if Cloud has 7 or more power.
Red XIII, Proud Warrior

Red is a lord for modified creatures. Its ETB is also recursion for auras and equipment.
An Instant For Equipment Decks
Judgment Bolt
This set didn't include many instants, but we can highlight Judgment Bolt.

Besides dealing 5 damage to a target creature, this card will deal damage to that creature's controller equal to how many equipment cards you control.
Equipment

Obviously, we'll also include a few interesting equipment cards that came out in this set.
Please note that this set is quite large, so we highly recommend checking out every card (we won't discuss all of them in this article to keep it short and simple).
Aettir and Priwen

It might be expensive, but its effect earned it a spot in our list.
When it comes to Commander decks centered around artifacts, we can play many cards that let us equip our creatures without paying any equip costs, or that even let us discount spell costs. In Commander, players start with 40 life, so you can imagine why any creature would be very or incredibly strong if you equip this card to it.
The Masamune

Ad
The Masamune makes the creature it is attached to trigger its "death" effects an extra time.
Example: if this card is attached to Solemn Simulacrum, when it dies, you'll draw two cards.
Another example: if it is attached to a Blood Artist, you'll deal 2 damage to a target opponent (or deal 1 damage to two opponents) and gain 2 life.
Buster Sword

Finally, we have Buster Sword.
When the creature equipped with it deals combat damage to a player, you'll draw a card. You may also cast a spell in your hand that costs the same amount of mana as the damage you dealt or less without paying its cost.
As if that weren't enough, this equipment card also buffs the equipped creature by +3/+2.

Summoner's Grimoire

When the creature equipped with this card attacks, you may play a creature from your hand on the board. If it's an enchantment creature, it will enter play tapped and attacking.
This set didn't bring us many enchantment-creatures, but we can't forget about the Theros blocks, which gave us many fun options to play in Eternal formats.
Machinist's Arsenal

As this card enters play and already creates a Hero token attached with it, we'll overlook its equip cost.
With Machinist's Arsenal, the equipped creature will have +1/+1 for each artifact under your control. So, tokens, Treasures, Food, Vehicles, artifact creatures, and many other cards will help you buff this creature.

Equipment in the New Commander Decks
Blue Mage's Cane

This card lets you exile an instant or sorcery from the defending player's graveyard, and also cast a copy of it by paying three generic mana instead of how much it actually costs.
Reaper's Scythe

Reaper's Scythe goes in any Aristocrat deck, which are very popular in casual Commander tables.
In your end step, you'll put one soul counter on this equipment for each player that lost life that turn. The creature it is equipped to will then get +1/+1 for each soul counter on this equipment.

Conformer Shuriken

When the creature equipped with this card attacks, you'll tap a target creature under the defending player's control and put +1/+1 counters on your creature equal to the difference between their powers.
Example: if your creature is a 1/1, and the defending player's creature is a 7/7, you'll put six counters on it.
Wrecking Ball Arm

This is, possibly, one of the most fun equipment cards in this list.
By paying three mana to attach it to a legendary creature, that creature will become a 7/7 and can't be blocked by creatures with 2 or less power.
Ad
You can equip this equipment card to a non-legendary creature for seven mana. However, even if you discount this cost, it is still too expensive to equip it to anything besides your commander. Particularly if your deck wins by dealing commander damage.
Final Words
Final Fantasy brought great things for fans of good old equipment decks.
After taking a brief look at the cards in this set, it's clear it is full of fun options that should bring a lot of value to all types of decks in all types of formats (particularly Mono White Cloud).
We hope this article introduced you to fun options that will also be great in your deck and upgrade your game experience.
