Emeritus of Conflict would fit best in a low-curve, spell-dense red deck—such as Mono-Red Prowess, Izzet Spellslinger, or a Storm-style shell—where casting three spells in a turn is trivial thanks to cheap cantrips, burn, and zero–one mana interaction; the “prepared” mechanic effectively turns it into repeatable Lightning Bolt value, rewarding explosive turns and synergizing with cards like Manamorphose, Lava Dart, Mishra’s Bauble, and other free or cheap spells. However, in competitive formats, this would face stiff competition from cards like Monastery Swiftspear (more consistent pressure), Soul-Scar Mage (utility with burn), and especially actual Lightning Bolt (more reliable and immediate), since this card requires setup and doesn’t generate value until the third spell is cast.
