But in order to reach them, we have to examine each of the three mechanics in turn, and ask ourselves the following questions: Firstly, what does this mechanic contribute to the game of Magic? Secondly, could this mechanic (or a version of it) exist in paper? And thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, is the mechanic in the spirit of the Magic rules?
