About Collapsing Borders
Collapsing Borders, Enchantment, designed by Glen Angus first released in Oct, 2000 in the set Invasion. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 9.66.
This card, Collapsing Borders, would benefit a deck focused on controlling the board and gaining incremental life advantage, such as a midrange or control deck. However, there are better cards that provide similar effects more efficiently, such as Sphinx's Revelation or Aetherflux Reservoir, which offer more impactful life gain without the drawback of dealing damage to the player. Overall, while Collapsing Borders has a unique effect, it may not see much play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks due to its high cost and potentially harmful drawback.
Rules
03/19/21
Domain abilities count the number of basic land types among lands you control, not how many lands you control or how many of any type.
02/01/09
A number of nonbasic lands have basic land types. Domain abilities don’t count the number of lands you control — they count the number of basic land types among lands you control, even if that means checking the same land twice. For example, if you control a Tundra, an Overgrown Tomb, and a Madblind Mountain, you’ll have a Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest among the lands you control. Your domain abilities will be maxed out.
02/01/09
To determine the number of basic land types among lands you control, look at the lands you have on the battlefield and ask yourself whether the subtypes Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest appear within that group. The number of times you say yes (topping out at five) tells you how powerful your domain abilities will be.
