About Cunning Strike

Cunning Strike, Instant, designed by Clint Cearley first released in Jan, 2015 in the set Fate Reforged. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 0.53.

A deck that focuses on tempo and aggression, such as a tempo-based Blue-Red deck in Magic: the Gathering, would benefit from including Cunning Strike. The card provides a versatile and efficient way to deal damage to both creatures and opponents while also replenishing your hand with a card draw. However, there are arguably better cards like Lightning Bolt or Electrolyze that offer similar effects with lower mana costs, making them more efficient choices for most decks. While Cunning Strike has its merits, it may not see widespread play due to the availability of stronger alternatives.

You can’t cast Cunning Strike unless you target both a creature and a player. If one target (but not both) is illegal as Cunning Strike resolves, it deals damage to the remaining legal target and you draw a card. If both targets are illegal, the spell won’t resolve and none of its effects will happen. You won’t draw a card in that case.
