About Opal Champion

Opal Champion, Enchantment, designed by Edward P. Beard, Jr. first released in May, 2020 in the set Urza's Legacy. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 0.69.

Opal Champion would be a great addition to a white-based enchantment deck in Magic: the Gathering, especially in a control or midrange strategy where you can disrupt your opponent's creature plays. While Opal Champion offers a unique ability to surprise opponents with a sudden 3/3 Knight creature, there are stronger options like Starfield Mystic or Archon of Sun's Grace that provide more consistent value in enchantment-focused decks. However, Opal Champion could still see play in specific metas or as a fun, unexpected inclusion for a thematic deck.

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.

It triggers when the spell is cast, so it becomes a creature before the spell resolves. A creature that would destroy an enchantment when it enters the battlefield can’t be used to destroy this card, since it will no longer be an enchantment when the creature enters the battlefield.
