Hydroblast would be beneficial in a blue control deck that struggles against red spells or permanents. While Hydroblast is effective against red spells and permanents, the versatility of cards like [[Counterspell]] or [[Vedalken Shackles]] may offer more consistent value in a wider range of matchups. However, Hydroblast could still see play as a sideboard option in a metagame dominated by red decks.
