The Juzam Master fits well in aggressive black creature decks that aim to apply early pressure while sacrificing some life for a significant power boost to your creatures, making it ideal for strategies that can quickly close out games or utilize life gain to offset its drawback. However, there are arguably better options, such as Glistener Elf in combination with Myr Superion or Death's Shadow, which can provide a more synergistic approach to aggressive strategies without the self-damage penalty. While the Juzam Master can see play in niche builds, its drawbacks may limit its effectiveness compared to more streamlined options in competitive formats.
