Thunder Totem would be a valuable addition to a white-based aggro or midrange deck in Magic: the Gathering, providing both mana acceleration and a versatile combat threat. While it offers flexibility with its ability to become a 2/2 white Spirit artifact creature with flying and first strike, there are potentially better options such as Stoneforge Mystic or Batterskull for more consistent and impactful plays. However, Thunder Totem could still see play in certain strategies that benefit from its unique combination of abilities and mana generation.

A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature can attack, and its abilities can be activated, only if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of their most recent turn. It doesn’t matter how long the permanent has been a creature.
