About The Great Forest

The Great Forest, Plane — lorwyn, designed by Howard Lyon first released in Sep, 2009 in the set Planechase Planes and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of $ 0.01.

A deck focused on high-toughness creatures, such as walls or creatures with defender abilities, would benefit the most from The Great Forest. This card could be particularly effective in a defensive or control-oriented deck looking to stall the game and swing the board in their favor with the trample bonus during chaotic moments. While The Great Forest has its niche uses, there may be better options like Doran, the Siege Tower, which not only boosts toughness but also changes power and toughness values, making it a more versatile choice in certain strategies. Ultimately, whether The Great Forest sees play would depend on the specific deck archetype and strategy being employed.

Rules

10/01/09

A plane card is treated as if its text box included “When you roll , put this card on the bottom of its owner’s planar deck face down, then move the top card of your planar deck off that planar deck and turn it face up.” This is called the “planeswalking ability.”

10/01/09

The controller of a face-up plane card is the player designated as the “planar controller.” Normally, the planar controller is whoever the active player is. However, if the current planar controller would leave the game, instead the next player in turn order that wouldn’t leave the game becomes the planar controller, then the old planar controller leaves the game. The new planar controller retains that designation until they leave the game or a different player becomes the active player, whichever comes first.

The Great Forest’s first ability means, for example, that a 2/3 creature will assign 3 damage in combat instead of 2.
