About Jegantha, the Wellspring

Jegantha, the Wellspring, Legendary creature — elemental elk, designed by Chris Rahn first released in Apr, 2020 in the set Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths and was printed exactly in 11 different ways. It see play in 2 formats: Commander and Timeless. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 24.11. It's a key card in 4 combos.

A deck that benefits from Jegantha, the Wellspring would be a multicolor deck with a focus on utilizing a wide range of colors for powerful spells and abilities. While Jegantha can provide a diverse array of mana, its restriction as a companion may limit deck construction options. Depending on the deck's strategy, other cards like Chromatic Lantern may offer more flexibility in mana fixing. Jegantha could see play in specific decks that can accommodate its companion requirement while still benefiting from its unique mana ability.

Rules

06/01/20

If you reveal a companion outside the game, for as long as it remains there, you may pay any time you could cast a sorcery (that is, you have priority during your main phase and the stack is empty). Once you do, you put it into your hand and behaves like any other card you’ve brought into the game. For example, if it’s discard, countered, or destroyed, it’s put into your graveyard, remaining in the game. This is a change from previous rules.

04/17/20

Jegantha’s companion ability compares the exact symbols in the mana costs of cards in your deck. If any one card has the same symbol twice, such as or , the companion condition isn’t satisfied.

04/17/20

The companion’s other abilities apply only if the creature is on the battlefield. They have no effect while the companion is outside the game.

04/17/20

The requirements of the companion ability apply only to your starting deck. They do not apply to your sideboard.

04/17/20

You may have one companion in the Commander variant. Your deck, including your commander, must meet its companion requirement. Your companion is not one of your one hundred cards.

04/17/20

Your companion begins the game outside the game. In tournament play, this means your sideboard. In casual play, it’s simply a card you own that’s not in your starting deck.
