Deny Reality could be a valuable addition to a control or tempo deck in Magic: the Gathering, as it provides both disruption by returning a permanent to its owner's hand and card advantage through Cascade. However, there are potentially better options available, such as Cryptic Command or Mystic Confluence, which offer more versatility and immediate impact on the board. Deny Reality may see play in more casual or budget decks, but competitive decks might opt for more powerful and flexible options.

A spell’s converted mana cost is determined only by its mana cost. Ignore any alternative costs, additional costs, cost increases, or cost reductions. For example, Bloodbraid Elf’s converted mana cost is always 4.

The converted mana cost of a modal double-faced card in exile is that of its front face. If the last card you exile is a modal double-faced card, you may only cast the back face if the resulting spell would also have a lesser converted mana cost than the spell with cascade.
