The new Magic: The Gathering set, Duskmourn, maintains the pattern of bringing some cards with alternative anime-style illustrations. Started in War of the Spark with the presence of renowned artists such as Yoshitaka Amano, these cards became very popular among fans and also appeared in Strixhaven, Bloomburrow, among others.

The alternative cards in the new set are called Japanese Showcase and feature the work of illustrators such as Takeuchi Moto (Digimon). They are found in Duskmourn's Collector Boosters. Japanese boxes will always have these cards in Japanese, while other languages will have these cards in English, with a 1/3 chance of them appearing in Japanese.
