Brain in a Jar, Artifact, designed by Daniel Ljunggren first released in May, 2020 in the set Shadows over Innistrad Promos and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of £ 0.38. It's a key card in 1 combos.
A control or spell-heavy deck that focuses on instant and sorcery spells would benefit from using Brain in a Jar in Magic: the Gathering. While Brain in a Jar offers a unique way to cast spells for free, it may be outclassed by more efficient cards like Birgi, God of Storytelling or Mizzix's Mastery, which provide similar effects with fewer restrictions. Brain in a Jar could see play in casual or themed decks, but may not be optimal for competitive play due to its slower setup and reliance on charge counters.

If you cast a card “without paying its mana cost,” you can’t choose to cast it for any alternative costs, such as awaken costs. You can, however, pay additional costs, such as kicker costs. If the card has any mandatory additional costs, such as that of Lightning Axe, you must pay those to cast the card.

When resolving the first ability of Brain in a Jar, the newly-placed charge counter will be counted when determining what spells you may cast. No player may take any action between you placing the counter and choosing which spell to cast.
