About Herald of Torment

Herald of Torment, Enchantment creature — demon, designed by Vance Kovacs first released in May, 2020 in the set Born of the Gods. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 1.78.

Herald of Torment can be a strong addition to a black-based aggressive deck looking to apply pressure with evasive threats, benefiting from the flying ability and power boost it provides. However, in a competitive setting, there are potentially better options such as [[Phyrexian Arena]] for card advantage or [[Bitterblossom]] for consistent token generation, which may offer more impactful and long-term benefits. Ultimately, the decision to include Herald of Torment in a deck would depend on the specific strategy and synergies of the deck, but it may not be a top-tier choice in a highly optimized deck.

Rules

09/15/13

Auras attached to a creature don’t become tapped when the creature becomes tapped. Except in some rare cases, an Aura with bestow remains untapped when it becomes unattached and becomes a creature.

09/15/13

On the stack, a spell with bestow is either a creature spell or an Aura spell. It’s never both, although it’s an enchantment spell in either case.

09/15/13

Unlike other Auras, an Aura with bestow isn’t put into its owner’s graveyard if it becomes unattached. Rather, the effect making it an Aura ends, it loses enchant creature, and it remains on the battlefield as an enchantment creature. It can attack (and its abilities can be activated, if it has any) on the turn it becomes unattached if it’s been under your control continuously, even as an Aura, since your most recent turn began.
