Questa carta sarebbe utile in un mazzo di controllo o tempo che mira a interrompere la base di mana dell'avversario e ottenere un vantaggio nel gioco tardivo. Anche se Drain Power può essere potente in determinate situazioni, ci sono opzioni migliori come Mana Drain o Mind Twist che offrono effetti più incisivi allo stesso costo, rendendo Drain Power meno probabile da vedere giocare nei mazzi competitivi di Magic: the Gathering.
