Phantasmal Image è una carta versatile che può adattarsi bene ai mazzi che cercano di copiare potenti creature sul campo di battaglia con un costo di mana inferiore. I mazzi che si concentrano sulla sinergia delle creature o che utilizzano potenti abilità di entrata nel campo di battaglia possono trarne vantaggio. Tuttavia, è vulnerabile alla rimozione a causa della sua clausola di sacrificio, quindi i mazzi con modi per proteggere o far ricorso alla copia possono massimizzarne il potenziale. Alternative migliori includono carte come Clever Impersonator o Phyrexian Metamorph, che offrono maggiore flessibilità e non hanno lo stesso inconveniente, ma Phantasmal Image può comunque essere una forte inclusione nel mazzo giusto.

If the chosen creature is a token, Phantasmal Image copies the original characteristics of that token as stated by the effect that created the token. Phantasmal Image is not a token in this case.

Phantasmal Image copies exactly what was printed on the original creature (unless that creature is copying something else or is a token; see below) and it gains the Illusion creature type and the triggered ability. It doesn’t copy whether that creature is tapped or untapped, whether it has any counters on it or Auras attached to it, or any non-copy effects that have changed its power, toughness, types, color, or so on.
