This card would benefit decks that focus on generating a lot of black mana quickly, such as decks that rely on casting expensive black spells or have a lot of black mana symbols in their costs. While Priest of Gix provides a good mana boost upon entering the battlefield, there are better options like Dark Ritual which can provide even more mana at once, making it a more efficient choice in most cases. However, Priest of Gix could still see play in decks looking for additional mana acceleration or specific synergies with its creature type.
